Milestone 1

Noticed problems

Lack of transparency in the rental market

Tenants often encounter fake listings, unreliable landlords, or hidden issues.

Low trust between tenants and landlords

There is no standardized way to check rental history or reputation.

Time-consuming paperwork

Contracts, payments, and communication are often manual, fragmented, and error prone.

Our solution

Connect verified tenants and landlords in a transparent ecosystem

Provide real listings, verified user profiles, and mutual reputation scores

Simplify rent payments, communication, and maintenance tracking

TenanSee helps tenants and landlords who want to avoid uncertainty and risk in the rental process by providing verified profiles, real-time rental listings, and digital contract management. We achieve this using a platform that combines secure identity verification, mutual reputation scoring, and in-app contract and payment tools, unlike current solutions which rely on unverified listings or fragmented processes that leave tenants and landlords exposed to fraud or unreliable partners.
Our system ensures that tenants see only verified, real listings and that landlords can confidently screen applicants. All communication, contract signing, and rent payments happen through our mobile and web apps, providing a seamless, trustworthy, and transparent rental experience.

Milestone 2

Another issue that bothers me is that whenever I pay rent, I have to ask whether the landlords want cash or a bank transfer, which again takes up a lot of my free time. I think automatic payment would save both parties a lot of hassle.

  • Our solution

TenanSee is a platform that connects verified tenants and landlords, offering:

  • Trusted user profiles with rental history & reviews;
  • Verified property listings;
  • Communication and documentation in one place;
  • Secure digital contracts and transaction logs;
  • Higher transparency.

Replace cumbersome and fragmented processes with a simple and secure rental experience.

  • How we identified the problem?

When I had to move out of the student dormitory, I looked for an apartment to live in. The process was very difficult, because whenever I found an ad that seemed right for me, I would call, no one would answer, and then a few minutes later, miraculously, an agency would call me asking if I was looking for an apartment to rent. This happened with almost all the ads, until I finally found a real one. At that moment, other thoughts came to mind, such as, "What if these people are shady?" In the end, finding myself in a crisis situation (I had to find a place to rent that day), I went to see the apartment and accepted it. The search process also took a long time because no website that does not belong to an agency has a map where you can see properties in a specific area.

Customer Discovery

To validate whether the problem we identified is real and widespread, we planned a customer discovery process targeting both tenants and landlords. Our initial goal was to understand their current behavior, rental challenges, without proposing or describing any solution.

We designed a structured google form questionnaire containing separate question sets for each segment:

  • Tenants: focused on rental search experience;
  • Landlords: focused on trust issues and risk concerns.

The form was then distributed through:

  • Facebook: groups based on our segment;
  • WhatsApp: friends & student communities.

Data Analysis & Results

We were able to reach both segments: landlords and tenants.

On average, both landlords and tenants reported that closing a deal takes at least two weeks.

Key insights from tenants

Based on this question, it became clear that most tenants perceive challenges in the rental search process, primarily because existing platforms do not verify the accuracy of listings and offer limited filtering options.

Most tenants prefer to have a clearly defined contract from the outset, registered with the tax authorities. They also view it as risky not to have any information about the owner of the property they are about to move into.

Additionally, many encounter misleading or bait-and-switch listings, posted anonymously by estate agencies pretending to be property owners. These listings are often unavailable or not genuine.

Among the most common issues after signing the contract, the following were identified:
  • payment process
  • contractual clauses

Key insights from landlords

Regarding the responses received from property owners, although fewer in number, the following issues were identified:

  • Finding tenants and scheduling property visits represents a time-consuming process
  • Trust is determined in a fairly intuitive, rather than systematic, way

What both customer groups tell us?

There is a clear and shared market problem:

  • Both tenants and landlords are frustrated with today's rental platforms , due to unverified listings and a complicated renting process;
  • Both sides demand higher transparency and trust;
  • Tenants and landlords want to know more about who they will work with before making any commitment.

These findings give us confidence to move forward into the Customer Validation stage in order to test real willingness to adopt our solution.

Since both tenants and landlords are dissatisfied with current platforms and both sides want more transparency about who they'll collaborate with, our MVP will focus on solving these shared pain points first.

Therefore, the key features we should prioritize for our MVP are:

  • Verified listingsaddresses trust issues for tenants;
  • User profilesimproves transparency for both sides;
  • Dedicated chatallows secure communication while keeping personal life separate;
  • Property visit schedulingsimplifies renting process.

Milestone 3

Wireframes

You can also analyze the wireframes below here.

The listings page allows users to browse available posts, apply filters, or switch to map view.

Once the user has spoken with the owner, they can schedule a visit to tour the property.

This wireframe illustrates our landing page.

It showcases the project's tagline, a call to action, and the main features of the application.

From here, users can navigate to the listings page or their profile.

Listings include images and key details.

Users can schedule a visit or start a chat with the property owner directly from here.

Each user will have a comprehensive profile that also displays ratings from past collaborations.

Landing Page

The landing page was built using Vite and React and can be accessed here.

As part of our call to action, users can subscribe with their email if they're interested in using the app.

We used formspree in order to develop this functionality.

Milestone 5

We have integrated Posthog into our landing page in order to gain a better understanding of user interactions. Posthog provided us three key capabilities:

  • Web analytics: used to track the number of visitors accessing the landing page.
  • Product analytics: applied to visualize the conversion funnel, particularly focusing on how users respond to our call to action.
  • Session replay: utilized to observe user behavior and identify areas for improvement in the user experience.

Through this setup, we were able to analyze how many visitors to the landing page also chose to provide their email address. This information helps us measure engagement and refine our approach to lead collection.

As a result of this analysis, we achieved a 43.48% conversion rate

We have added a lead collection section to our landing page.

This section enables visitors to provide their email address in order to subscribe to our newsletter. Subscribers will receive updates regarding the development process and the launch of our product.

For the collection of email addresses, we have integrated Formspree, which provides a secure and efficient way to manage submissions from our future users.

In order to spread our landing page and reach a wider audience, we made use of WhatsApp groups as a primary channel. This allowed us to distribute the link directly to interested communities and encourage potential users to visit.

We also attempted to post the landing page in dedicated Facebook groups relevant to our product domain. However, our request to publish was not approved due to competition-related restrictions.

Through these efforts, we focused on ensuring that the landing page itself was circulated effectively among targeted audiences.
